While working on a web design for a client, I came to need to install ionCube and enable Zend Optimizer on a Go Daddy server. I typically do not work on servers that do not allow the higher level of access, so this was a bit new. We had all of the lines in the php.ini file that was already installed:

zend_optimizer.optimization_level=15
zend_extension_manager.optimizer=/usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer-3.3.3
zend_extension_manager.optimizer_ts=/usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer_TS-3.3.3
zend_extension=/usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer-3.3.3/ZendExtensionManager.so
zend_extension_ts=/usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer_TS-3.3.3/ZendExtensionManager_TS.so

However it just would not work. After going back and forth with tech support, we were sort of left on our own to figure out the issue. We discovered that they require that you rename the php.ini to php5.ini . While this was such a simple thing, we hope that this will save you time if you ever run into one of these quarks during your ionCube or Zend installations.

Google has updated their PageRanks for a majority of the websites.  We have moved up to page rank 3 after years of sitting at page rank 1 despite being at the top for all of our targeted keywords (odd right?).

It looks like the parent company of the website GoDaddy.com has been sold to KKR, Silver Lake and Technology Crossover Ventures.  With over 48 million domain names registered, countless hosting and website accounts, it goes without saying that many people will be waiting for any changes from the company that are to follow. Most people have the misconception that building a website and sticking it on a server somewhere is a sure fire way to generate leads and sales online and have you swimming in the money. This could not be further from the truth. Competition on the web is fierce and the growing online consumer base is growing more savvy and more fickle about the types of websites they frequent. You have to have consider your website your show floor so to speak and You have to do a few things to make it effective. First you have to get them in the ‘door’. Second you have to grab their attention. And finally, you have to make it easy to buy your goods and services.
